He can Relate

"For this reason he had to be made like them, fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people.  Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted."
Hebrews 2:17-18

Have you ever been through a tough situation in your life and called a friend that you know has certainly been there before?  Perhaps you are having marital problems, therefore you call your best friend because he or she went through the same exact trial in their marriage.  Maybe you are stuck in your head, having troubling thoughts, and struggling with anxiety.  So you decide to call your friend you know suffers with the same stressful thoughts because you know they will be able to speak to that situation.  You get the point.  We tend to call on people we are in a close relationship with, concerning our problems and situations we are going through, because we know they have walked through the same valleys.  In the scripture above, the writer of Hebrews is explaining to us the reason Jesus needed to become fully human.  The reason is "in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest...because he himself suffered.. he is able to help those who are being tempted."  We must remember that Jesus was tempted in every way we experience, and yet, He did not sin.  We don't have a God that cannot relate to the problems and trials of the temptation of sin we experience every day.  Therefore, in the same way we often have a friend that relate to a particular situation we may be going through, Jesus can relate to ALL the temptation we face in our lives.  We should then, first and foremost, turn to Him in these situations.  Then, we should ask for guidance and comfort from Christian friends in our lives that have our best interest in mind, and share in our walk of faith following Christ.  I am so grateful when I think about the fact that my God can completely relate to the issues and temptations I am facing today, right now, right this very moment.  I am grateful that I can turn to Him, and trust in His promises for my life.  Often, when I am going through a particularly difficult situation, I am blessed when I can turn to this portion of scripture, and remember that Jesus put on flesh for me.  So that I can find comfort, peace, and joy, in the storms of life because He is there with me!  Today, turn to Jesus in your trial and temptation.  Pray and ask for His presence to overwhelm your situation, trusting that He can make all things right, if we turn to Him, who understands in every way.  Love you all!  Praying for you and yours!  Have a blessed day, it's your choice!
