"And do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season you will reap, if you do not give up."
Galatians 6:9
My first thought when I read this verse is, why do I have t be told not to grow weary in doing good things? I mean, I want to do good things, and you probably want to do good things as well. We don't have to be told not to grow weary in doing bad. And you know why? Because for so many of us, especially in active addiction, we LIVE in weary. Oftentimes our lives are so cluttered with things and we are way beyond needing to be told not to grow weary, because we live in weary! But, I believe what Paul is offering to us in the first part of this verse is good godly encouragement. This is a staple in our walk with Christ that we all need. So often, at the first sign of struggle or complication, we give up on doing a good thing. But, Paul would tell us that this is exactly why we need good godly encouragement in our lives. Look around. Are your friends giving you godly encouragement to continue to do good? Are they encouraging you not to give up that good thing you know God has called you to do? If not, maybe you need to evaluate who you keep closest to you. We all need encouragement to persevere in doing good. The whole world is set up to tell us to quit! If you don't get what we want, and get it right away, the worldview is to quit, hurry up and try and do something else. The world would tell you to stop wasting your time and move on, but the Lord would encourage you to not grow weary in doing good, don't give up! There is this beautiful promise placed in the middle of this verse. If we continue to persevere in doing the good things God is calling us, and we don't give up, the Lord promises we will reap a harvest in due season. Now the harvest Paul talks about, is a harvest of eternal life. And this is such a beautiful promise, but I think that we to reap a harvest here and now when we have good godly encouragement in our lives and we persevere in the Spirit. And that is a harvest of peace. As we put in the work to follow Jesus and the Holy Spirit, not giving up, we reap a harvest of peace, grace, mercy, and love in our lives. This is the harvest for now! But, God also promises, that when we don't give up persevering in the Spirit, we certainly reap a harvest of eternal life! Where is your godly encouragement coming from? Can you push harder, and not give up the calling God has for your life? Today, pray and ask God to send encouraging men and women into your life that want to see you push through and reap a harvest of peace, grace, and love! Love you all! Praying for you and yours! Have a blessed day, it's your choice!
