When Plans Change

"The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps."
Proverbs 16:9

We all make plans.  Some of those plans start out as goals for the start of a new year, some of those plans entail family events like vacations, reunions, and birthday parties.  Individually, we make personal plans and goals to finish a degree, work towards a promotion, and take care of our health.  It is not a bad thing at all to make plans, we all strive towards our goals.  One thing that is inevitable in this life though, is that plans change.  And the reason for that?  Because people change, the world changes, everything changes; the only constant is the Lord; who remains the same yesterday, today, and forever (Heb. 13:8).   But don't be surprised when your plans change.  There may be a health crisis that comes up, financial strain or job loss, the loss of a friend or loved one, or maybe you have to switch jobs and move to take care of a friend or family member.  The point is we all make plans in our hearts, we desire good things to happen and for us to walk in during our lives, but how do we respond when our plans change?  How do you react when the finances aren't lining up to go on that trip you planned or to have that wedding you wanted?  What is your character when your child falls ill and now your entire life, with its goals and plans, has shifted?  And how do you respond when you lose a friend/loved one or your best friend has to move away?  Listen to me, plans WILL change, but you don't have to let that affect you mentally, emotionally, or spiritually.  Plans changes, but the Lord promises that the ordering of your steps comes from Him.  When we really think about it, we can make all the plans we want, but they are just ideas until we begin to walk in them, and that is exactly where the Lord promises to meet you, in the steps.  He alone establishes your steps, directs you, comforts and encourages you, and walks right along side of you.  The Lord will protect, establish, and be present with you through each and every step of your life, if you let Him.  Today, don't be discouraged if things aren't working out exactly as you planned.  Take heart and take courage that no matter how the plan is unfolding, that God is the one in control of your life and ordering and establishing all your steps.  And trust me, when He orders your steps, He will lead you to ultimate peace, comfort, salvation, and eternal life, you just need to trust Him!  Love you all!  Praying for you and yours!  Have a blessed day, it's your choice!

  1. Really pertinent! Love the last part: And trust me, when He orders your steps, He will lead you to ultimate peace, comfort, salvation, and eternal life, you just need to trust Him!
