Count on Him

"Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him."

Proverbs 30:5

I find so much comfort in this scripture above.  How often is it in our world that we find something that rings true every time?  How often is it that we can bank on something or someone 100% of the time, knowing that they or it will come through for us?  This is our human condition:  Because we are born into a sin nature, we tend to desire to worship everything besides God.  We will try to find truth, comfort, and joy in just about anything except God.  We look for this in money, cars, spouses, families, friends, careers, education, hobbies, habits, and so on.  At the end of the day ALL of these things end up a lie.  They never full satisfy our need for comfort, love, and joy.  NEVER!  They may provide a temporary happiness or comfort, but it always fades.  And then we are left with ourselves, left in our own sin.  Often in shame or guilt.  Maybe we drained the account again seeking to find joy.  Maybe we stomped over everyone we love in order to find it.  Or maybe we became so cutthroat that we drove everyone away in our jobs or church.  The scripture above says that EVERY word of God proves true.  You can take that to the bank!  Not just the new testament, or not just the words of Jesus, but EVERY word of God proves true.  When you are stressed, anxious, worried, fearful, or depressed, know that you can count on the word of God.  All of what God says is true and comes to pass.  Jesus tells us that we find our rest in Him.  He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6).  And we can trust Him and take refuge in Him.  What is it that is weighting you down today?  Take comfort in God's word, trust in His promises to get you through.  He promises that you have a hope and a future, He promises that you are fearfully and wonderfully made, He promises that He came to give you an abundant life, He promises to make a way, He promises to never leave you or forsake you, He promises that He came to save you!  He loves you, He knows the number of hairs on your head!  He has mine and your names written on the palm of His hand.  Take comfort today in God's word because every word proves true.  Our Lord is indeed a refuge to us always.  And we can ALWAYS count on Him!  Love you guys!  Praying for you and yours!  Have a blessed day, it's your choice!
