The Process to the Promise

"And the Lord said to Joshua, 'See, I have given Jericho into your hand, with its king and mighty men of valor."                                                                                                                                                                 Joshua 6:2

How often is it that God gives us a vision of how we are to be living life, or a place that He is calling us to be, but we can't see how to get there?  Or just as often, maybe it is that we know where He is calling us in life, but we want to trust in our own abilities and ways to get there?  Nevertheless, I am sure you can recall something that God has put on your heart to be doing in life.  Whether this is serving a certain person or group of people, working at a certain job or job field, or providing your time to serve in a position in the church, or something of the like.  Regardless, of what it is, there is almost certainly, something that you know in your heart you should be doing for the Lord.  The problem falls, in the process.  So many times, we can hear people say, "I know God is calling me to do that, but I just can't because of ____"; you can fill in the blank.  We often make excuses as to why we are not walking in our true calling, and this all boils down to one thing.  Do we trust God enough to get to the calling in the way He wants to get us there?  In other words, do we trust God's process and His timing in our lives?  This was an important question for the nation of Israel in this time of their history.  Here, the Lord promises Joshua the city of Jericho before they actually have the land in possession.  And, after the scripture verse above, the Lord will tell Joshua the instructions to deliver to the people as to how to take the city into their own possession.  What would follow is not a typical military process.  Rather than taking the city with force, the Lord charges Joshua to challenge the obedience of the nation of Israel, by having them simply march around the city in a particular order, while blowing a horn at certain times.  After completing this set of instructions for seven days, then the Lord will deliver up the city of Jericho to the Israelites.  Which causes me to challenge myself.  Am I trusting the process of the promise?  God has given us all a divine calling, and Paul would tell us, "we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them (Eph. 2:10).  The question is, do we trust the process to get to the promise of what God is calling us to do?  Rather than choosing our own way to get to our promised land, do we have faith in the Lord's process?  Where is God leading you?  How is He leading you to get there?  Today, pray and consider where the Lord is calling you, and what is His process to get there.  He promises that we are created for a purpose, we just simply need to trust the process to get to the promise!  Love you all!  Praying for you and yours!  Have a blessed day, it's your choice!
