Pleasant Unity

"Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell inn unity!  It is like the precious oil on the head, running down the beard, on the beard of Aaron, running down on the collar of his robes!  It is like the dew of Hermon, which falls on the mountains of Zion!  For there the Lord has commanded the blessing, life forevermore."
Psalm 133

How pleasant it is if we could all dwell in unity?!  As we look around our world today, there is one things we surely lack, and that is unity.  As the world gets darker and darker, we fall prey to the deception of Satan to be against each other in every way possible.  This is largely what we see in our homes, schools, country, and around the world today, but God calls us to live a different way, to live in unity with one another.  Unity is the quality of being one in spirit, sentiment, purpose, etc.; harmony; agreement; concord; uniformity.  When we are in unity with one another we have harmony, accord, concord, concurrence, cooperation, collaboration, agreement, unanimity, consensus, assent, concert, togetherness, solidarity, like-mindedness, and peace.  Unity formed in brotherhood is true, sacred, and genuine when each member practices a mutual concern for others.  True and pure unity is putting your brothers and sisters in Christ first!  Paul, in the book of Colossians, puts it like this, "And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony" (Col. 3:14).  We live in true harmony when we put on love and serve others first.  The way we do that is to look to fulfill the needs and concerns of others' before our own.  This is how we truly create a bond of unity in brotherhood with one another.  We are told what living this way would mean for us, that it is like precious oil running down the head, beard, and robes of Aaron!  In the old testament oil is used for anointing and consecrating or sanctifying people, specifically old testament priests.  When we live in unity, the Lord tells us that this causes a sanctifying of our spirit man, we become holy, and are living anointed by walking in the unity God always intended for us.  Do you feel the anointing?  Perhaps you aren't living in unity with your brothers and sisters.  Today pray and ask the Lord to guide you by His Holy Spirit to live in unity with those around you.  We need the empowerment of the Holy Spirit to live in unity because it requires love, which is a fruit of the Spirit.  Challenge yourself today to live this way, and put others first, in love and in unity.  And do this, because when you do, the Lord promises, "life forevermore".  Love you all!  Praying for you and yours!  Have a blessed day, it's your choice!
