Just Ask!

"The Lord possessed me at the beginning of his work, the first of his acts of old.  Ages ago I was set up, at the first, before the beginning of the earth."
Proverbs 8:22-23

The scripture above talks about the wisdom that God established even before the beginning of earth.  When we slow down and think about it, and as we read further on in this chapter, we find that God established the earth and everything in it using wisdom.  Hence why, wisdom needed to be established before the earth, because the Lord formed everything using wisdom.  Wisdom is different than knowledge, and the two are often easily confused.  There is a saying I was told when I was younger, and maybe you have heard it, my mom or sisters would say, "you sure are pretty stupid for being so smart".  This is a funny, but true example.  I didn't lack knowledge, I lacked wisdom.  Knowledge is when there is a fact or when I am aware of a condition of something.  Knowledge is simply knowing things, being able to state facts about what something is or what it does.  Wisdom, however, is the ability to discern inner qualities and relationships.  Wisdom is a biblical virtue, one that God created even before earth, therefore using wisdom, He created the inner workings and relationships of earth and everything in it.  You ever just pause to consider the earth and the inner workings therein?  How we have seasons, the stars, the moon, we perfectly revolve around the sun, the workings of the ocean, the animals, the oxygen in the sky.  If any one of these inner workings was off by just a little bit, the earth would not be able to function.  Or perhaps have you every considered the wisdom in the inner workings of your body?  The relationships between the different body systems and how they all work together.  The fact that you are made up out of single atoms, strung together.  Or just the amazing fact that we are made up predominately by water.  When you stare at a glass of water and how flimsy and shapeless it truly is, then realize we are made up mostly of water, then you will be astounded by the amazing wisdom God used to create the inner workings of us.  Wisdom is a powerful thing, more powerful than knowledge.  Knowledge says you know something, wisdom will tells you how it works, functions, perhaps why it does, and it's relationship to other things.  It takes wisdom to walk with God.  Proverbs 9:10 tells us, "the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding."  By fear of the Lord, we mean reverence, or heartfelt respect for God is the beginning of wisdom.  Gaining wisdom in the world comes from combining knowledge with experience.  This can be a good thing while walking on earth, but this leaves God out of it.  True biblical wisdom is having a respect for God and reflecting Him in all that we think, do, and say because of who He is.  The more our hearts and minds are transformed to be like Jesus, the more biblical wisdom we will have.  And God tells us exactly how to get this wisdom in our lives.  "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him" (James 1:15).  You want wisdom in your life?  Pray for it, God says just ask, and He will give it to you.  Are you praying for wisdom in your life and in all life's situations?  We should be seeking to use godly wisdom in all that we say and do.  Including using wisdom at home, in relationships, how we talk to people, at the workplace, and so on.  Today, pray and ask God to give you abundant wisdom in your life.  He promises to give it to you if you just simply ask!  Love you all!  Praying for you and yours!  Have a blessed day, it's your choice!
